چکیده
We propose a novel model of street network connectivity which uses method from the field applied topology called “persistent homology”. The output this is pair density functions relative strength and frequency connected components cycles in network. In context, function type, such as motorway or residential, with more significant types providing greater connectivity. are easily interpreted provide insights into properties different networks. demonstrate usefulness through an analysis UK US city This identifies tangible similarities differences cities plus ways individual might be improved.

Enhancing Comparative Model Analysis using Persistent Homology
Mathematical models are widely used to replicate natural phenomena. They represent the growing universe, as well as the spreading of diseases. By concentrating on the essentials of these systems, mathematical models are perfectly suited to study system behavior under altered conditions. Defining a model for a given system is a challenging task and is commonly an advancing process, where current...
متن کاملConnectivity Homology Enables Inter-Species Network Models of Synthetic Lethality
Synthetic lethality is a genetic interaction wherein two otherwise nonessential genes cause cellular inviability when knocked out simultaneously. Drugs can mimic genetic knock-out effects; therefore, our understanding of promiscuous drugs, polypharmacology-related adverse drug reactions, and multi-drug therapies, especially cancer combination therapy, may be informed by a deeper understanding o...
متن کاملTopology of stimulus space via directed network persistent homology
Computational methods such as transfer entropy and Granger causality have been widely applied in studying causal interactions between brain regions. The outputs of such methods are asymmetric causality matrices which can then be further processed as desired. A natural consideration in applying such a method is how it can be further analyzed to reveal the structure and organization of the input ...
متن کاملPersistent homology analysis of ion aggregation and hydrogen-bonding network
Despite the great advancement of experimental tools and theoretical models, a quantitative characterization of the microscopic structures of ion aggregates and its associated water hydrogen-bonding networks still remains a challenging problem. In this paper, a newly-invented mathematical method called persistent homology is introduced, for the first time, to quantitatively analyze the intrinsic...
متن کاملDisrupted brain metabolic connectivity in a 6-OHDA-induced mouse model of Parkinson’s disease examined using persistent homology-based analysis
Movement impairments in Parkinson's disease (PD) are caused by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons and the consequent disruption of connectivity in the cortico-striatal-thalamic loop. This study evaluated brain metabolic connectivity in a 6-Hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced mouse model of PD using (18)F-fluorodeoxy glucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET). Fourteen PD-model mice and t...
